A Gentle Step Back in Time at Beechmount

Beechmount enjoyed a wonderfully calm and reflective activity this week, as residents spent time exploring a borrowed memory box from Lloyds Bank, filled with fascinating little treasures from years gone by.

Inside were items that immediately caught attention, including a magazine from 1969, coins from across the decades, and even a driving licence dated 1958. Each piece prompted curious questions, knowing smiles, and plenty of “I remember when…” moments, as residents shared stories about first jobs, family life, ration books and pocket money, learning to drive, and the everyday details that make up a lifetime.

Reminiscence activities like this are a lovely way to encourage conversation and connection, especially when the objects are so tactile and familiar. The session was unhurried and relaxed, allowing everyone the chance to take their time, reflect, and enjoy listening to one another’s memories. It was heart-warming to see the joy these items brought, and how easily they helped create a shared sense of togetherness.

A big thank you to Lloyds Bank for lending the memory box, and to our team for creating such a comfortable space for residents to reminisce and connect.
